A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for striking a 9-year-old boy with a vehicle and then leaving the scene of the crash without providing information or aid to the injured boy.
Corpus Christi police investigated a vehicle crash on the 1300 block of Winnebago near Alameda in which a 9-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle. The boy was found in the road injured and police were provided a description of a Black sport utility vehicle driven by a black male that struck the boy and then left without providing aid or calling for help. The boy was taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening but substantial injuries.
Corpus Christi Police Crash Investigators discovered evidence and information from witnesses that led to the arrest of 24-year-old Delvin Lemons (12/15/1987) at Lemons residence on the 1500 block of Winnebago.
Lemons intentionally provided false information to investigating officers about a vehicle and suspect as if Lemons was a witness. Evidence and other witnesses revealed that Lemons was the driver of the vehicle that struck the boy. Lemons was charged with False Report to Police Officer, and Accident Involving Injury and delivered to the city detention center.
