Occurred Monday, October 08, 2012, 9:30am, 9822 Leopard Street, Aggravated Robbery, 1210080028

A 60-year-old man was arrested Monday morning after he displayed a pistol and demanded money from a 32-year-old woman in the parking lot of the Westwood Shopping Center.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was approached by a 32-year-old woman at about 9:30am Monday morning and the woman told the officer she was robbed. The woman told the officer a man approached her in the parking lot and demanded her cellular telephone and showed her a pistol. The man then said he would shoot the woman if she did not comply with his demand. The woman talked the man into accepting money instead of her phone. The man then walked away from the woman.

The woman flagged down the officer and described the robber. The patrol officer very quickly saw 60-year-old Kenneth Vaden (9/16/1952) who immediately ran once Vaden saw the officer. The officer chased and captured Vaden and recovered evidence of the crime.

Vaden was arrested for aggravated robbery, a first degree felony, and for evading arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.
