Crash Disrupts Afternoon Traffic On The Cross-Town Expressway

Afternoon traffic was disrupted on the Cross-town Expressway southbound lanes after a 3 car vehicle crash. No person was injured, but a vehicle was taken to the city impound for no insurance.

A green 1997 Dodge Stratus driven by an 18-year-old woman stopped for traffic at the 4000 block of the southbound lanes of the Cross-town Expressway at 1:53pm. A silver 2000 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 58-year-old woman struck the Stratus from behind causing the Stratus to be pushed into the back of a silver 2007 Ford Focus driven by a 27-year-old woman.

The 58-year-old driver of the Toyota Tacoma received a citation for Failing to Control Speed and the truck was towed away. The 18-year-old driver received a citation for driving without a license and for no insurance. The Dodge Stratus was taken to the city impound. The Ford Focus was also towed because of damage.

No injuries were reported and the freeway was open back to normal use at 2:30pm.
