Car Alarm Alerts Police To Arrest Man On Mesquite Street

Occurred Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 22:49, 300 North Mesquite Street, Burglary of a Vehicle, 1210100151

                A 24-year-old man was arrested for breaking into a parked car Wednesday night on the 300 block of North Mesquite after a car alarm alerted a nearby Police Officer.

Corpus Christi Police Officer J. Lerma heard a car alarm as he was on his routine patrol in downtown Corpus Christi at 10:50pm. Officer Lerma saw flashing lights and heard a car alarm blast from a parked 2008 Land Rover. Officer Lerma saw a man run from the Land Rover into a gold 1998 Toyota Camry.

The Camry drove away and ran the red light at Lawrence and Chaparral Street. Officer Lerma initiated a traffic stop and arrested 24-year-old Joseph Summers (6/30/1988) for Reckless Driving and Driving with a suspended license. Officer Lerma discovered more evidence and additionally charged Summers with Burglary of a vehicle, Unlawful possession of criminal instruments, and for possession of marijuana.
