Four Arrested During Shooting Investigation

Police were called to the Christy Mobile Home Park for complaints of shots being fired about 9:30pm on Thursday night.  Upon their arrival, Officers contacted the 28-year-old victim and a couple of witnesses who reported Cory Baker (04/15/86) was seen shooting a firearm in the parking lot.

The victim and his friends told Officers they were inside the trailer when they heard gunshots and went outside to investigate.  A confrontation ensued and Cory Baker struck the victim with a baseball bat.  The victim was not seriously injured.

Baker was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine and Disorderly Conduct Discharging/Display a Firearm which is a Class “B” Misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $4,000 fine.

During their investigation, Officers contacted Cody James Baker (08/26/84) who was cussing and yelling and appeared to be intoxicated.  Cody was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.   1210180170

Cody’s Brother Marshal Anthony Baker (07/15/77) was also arrested when he grabbed his brother Cody and tried to pull him away from the Officers as they handcuffed him.  A struggle ensued in which Marshal punched the assisting Officer in the face,  busting his lip.  Marshal was tased allowing Officers to handcuff and place him under arrest.

Marshal was charged with Assault Causes Bodily Injury Public Servant which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine along with Interfering with Public Duties which is punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $4,000 fine. 121018173

A fourth man, Christopher Garcia (01/25/80) was arrested and charged with an outstanding warrant out of Brooks County for Failure to Appear.  1210180169

All four men were booked at the City Detention Center.
