A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol observed the driver of a blue 2002 Chevrolet Tracker traveling east in the 3500 block of Morgan Avenue was not wearing his seat belt.
The officer was able to stop the car at 3418 Baldwin Boulevard and he made contact with the driver who identified himself as Salvador Cantu (02/28/1959).
The officer determined that the man had an outstanding felony parole violation warrant and a municipal court warrant and he was arrested.
The man’s vehicle was released to his 64 year old male passenger.

Corpus Christi Police and Fire Department units responded to a house fire at 1618 Laredo Street.
When they arrived and made entry into the house, they found it empty inside and the front door was nailed shut. Fire department officials found signs of an accelerant used by the front door inside the house. It was determined that someone had thrown something through the front porch window lighting the house on fire.
Fire Department Arson Investigators continue to look into this fire, and at this time no suspects have been arrested.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a one car crash and found the driver had left the scene on foot, but he left something important of his behind in his car. Officers arrived and found that not only was a 27 year old male passenger left behind, but the driver’s prosthetic arm was found inside the car.
The crash investigation revealed that the 2000 Toyota Camry four door, that the two men were in, was traveling the wrong direction on State Highway 286 north when it drove off the freeway between two overpass bridges and became airborne and dropped down to Laredo Street below. The vehicle continued to travel under the freeway until it struck a bridge pillar.
The driver of the car, Juan Gutierrez (03/16/1991), then fled on foot, but officers located the one armed man walking not far from the scene.
The passenger was transported to Spohn MMC by CCFD Medics for minor injuries.
After an investigation officers determined that the driver was intoxicated and he was arrested. He was taken to Spohn Shoreline to be treated for minor injuries before he was taken to the City Detention Center.
