Patrol Report 02/23/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 161 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight February 22 to 7:00 a.m. on February 23, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“BRAVO” District

A 27 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police after a man assaulted her and tried to take her purse while she was walking to her car in the parking lot of Kohl’s.

The female told officers that she was getting in her car, when a man came up behind her and hit her on the back of the head. He then started trying to yank her purse off of her shoulder. The victim fought back and was able to pull the suspects shirt off and scratch him. She was able to hold onto her purse and the male gave up on the attack and took off running. He got into a maroon sedan and left the area.

The suspect did leave his t-shirt and sandals behind which officers recovered. He was described as being a Hispanic male, 5’5” tall, heavy set, short hair, and clean shaven. The victim was treated by CCFD EMS for minor injuries.

Officers did not locate the suspect and continue to investigate this crime.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the CosWay fishing pier for a shooting. Responding officers located a 37 year old male victim who had been shot several times and he did not survive.

At approximately 4:41 AM,  officers were contacted at 321 John Sartain, The Main Police station, by a subject claiming to be involved in the shooting. The 29 year old male suspect was taken to Spohn Shoreline Hospital for head injuries he received prior to police contact.

On February 20, just before 10 PM, the suspect, Jesse Wayne Taylor (07/11/1985), was released from the hospital and arrested for murder.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol at an apartment complex located at 4224 Ocean Dive observed a male hiding behind a motorcycle and holding a pipe.

As the officer approached the man, he took off running, dropping a glove and the pipe.  Inside the glove the officer found a handgun.

Several officers looked around the area of the apartment complex for nearly 40 minutes finally finding the man hiding in an open field near the complex.

Gene Hinojosa (05/18/1982) was arrested for burglary, evading arrest on foot, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. All of the charges are Class A misdemeanors.

Offense: Fatal Crash

Corpus Christi Police Traffic Investigators responded to crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian Saturday night near the intersection of Ayers Street and Mansheim Boulevard.

The crash investigation revealed that a 37 year old male was walking across Ayers St from east to west.  The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when a 2003 Dodge Caravan traveling south on Ayers Street struck him.  The 56 year old male driver told officers that he did not see the man crossing the street before striking him.

Officers do not believe the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated.

The pedestrian was transported to Spohn Memorial by CCFD EMS.  He was later pronounced dead at the hospital about four hours later.

Police Traffic Investigators continue to investigate this case, and at this time no other citations have been issued.

 

“DELTA” District

Corpus Christi Police responded to a disturbance between a husband and wife involving shots being fired at their home in the 200 block of Eastgate Drive.

Officers arrived and the 30 year old wife told them that her husband, Michael Brady (10/18/1980), was drunk and upset about not going to a bar.  He began to argue with her and then he threatened to shoot at the gas tank of their truck to try and blow it up.  He also made threats to burn their home down. After the man fired a shot at the truck, hitting the driver side door, the female called the police.

Officers arrested the man for aggravated assault, a first degree felony. He was additionally charged with making terroristic threats, a Class B misdemeanor and discharging a firearm, a Class A misdemeanor.

Officers recovered the revolver the man had used to fire the shots.
