Officers responded to a local farm overnight when the farmer called in a Burglary in Progress.  The farmer told Officers that a building on his farm had been burglarized several times over the past few days, so he conducted an overnight vigil on the property.  The thieves showed up again last night, and the farmer called the police.  The farmer, outside the farm, saw the direction the suspect’s truck drove into the farm prior to the Officers arrival.

The farmer told the responding Officers where he believed the truck went and Officers entered the farm property.  Once on the farm, Officers found the suspect vehicle, a White over Green 1993 Dodge Dakota pick-up.  As Officer’s drove up to the truck, headlights came on, the truck fled into the farm fields, and Officers pursued.

The pursuit crossed several farm fields, and did not go onto any streets.  The suspect’s truck made it across a ditch covered with grass, but the Police car didn’t make it.  Backup Officers arrived to help look for the suspect.  The truck was found, but the burglar was not.  Officers did locate some of the victim’s property in the bed of the truck, and that property was returned to the owner of the farm.

A wrecker was called out to help get the Police car out of the ditch.  The car was found to have minor damage and was driven away.  The suspect vehicle was also towed out, but it went the the CCPD impound lot.

No Officers were injured during the pursuit.
