Seven Juveniles Apprehended Burglarizing Tom Browne Middle School

Occurred 10/01/11, 10:07 a.m.   Burglary of a Building   4301 Schanen     1110010056

Officers responded to Tom Browne Middle School for multiple alarms being set off at the school.  Officers located a broken window leading to the boy’s bathroom. 

Officers secured the building and located seven juveniles inside the school.  One Officer shined his flashlight in their direction and they all scattered.  One of the juveniles opened an upstairs window to escape, but closed it when he saw another Officer standing guard.  All seven juveniles were apprehended and detained.

Further investigation revealed a 13-year-old juvenile had used his skateboard to damage the window to the administrative office door.  A 12-year-old female was found to have a backpack filled with items taken from the school.  They included a first aid kit, Sharpie Markers, and frozen popsicles.

The suspected burglars’ included one ten-year-old male, three 12-year-old females, one 12-year-old male, one 13-year-old female, along with one 13-year-old male.  They were all transported and booked at the Nueces County Juvenile JusticeCenter.  Each was charged with Burglary of a Building. 

The stolen property was returned to the principal.
