Trauma Call Turns Violent

Occurred on 11/21/11, 7:51 p.m. Assault on a Public Servant/Resisting Arrest 3527 Colonial Court 1111210150, 1111210151, 11210153  

Officers responded to the residence for a trauma with injuries. Officers arrived to find Arthur Rudy Avila (09/21/84) highly intoxicated and standing in the street. 

Officers confirmed Avila had fallen off the roof and as they continued with their investigation,  Avila became belligerent and intent on causing a disturbance.  Avila was in the process of being escorted onto to the sidewalk when he began to struggle and fight with the Officers. 

During the struggle one of the Officers was knocked to the ground and struck his head on the pavement.   CCFD Emergency Personnel assisted in restraining the struggling suspect.   Avila’s cousin Richard Soliz (02/19/86) who was being held back by his Avila’s girlfriend broke free and charged at the Officers. Soliz was tased as he cocked his fist back to punch at the Officer. 

While Officers were struggling with both suspects, Avila’s girlfriend Mary Lightfoot (02/15/87) tried to hinder the Officers’ arrest of both suspects. Lightfoot jumped on the Officers, pulling at their hands, yelling and cursing at them that her mother was a paralegal and an attorney. Officers requested emergency back-up when multiple family members exited the residence.

Upon their arrival, all three suspects were arrested.  Avila was charged with Public Intoxication, Resisting Arrest and an outstanding Municipal Court warrant.  Soliz was charged with Assault Causes Bodily Injury Public Servant and Resisting Arrest, while Lightfoot was charged with Interference with Public Duties.
