One Arrested in Copper Theft

Occurred on 1/21/12, 9:18 p.m.   Theft   765 Savage     1201210131

 Officers contacted an AEP employee who reported he was checking their maintenance yard when he observed two legs sticking out of the transformer area. 

Upon see him, the male fled into an adjacent business yard.  Officers searched the fenced area and arrested Luis Chavez (05/24/78) who was found to be in possession of numerous transformer spades.

Chavez was arrested and charged with Theft a State Jail Felony.  The metal valued at $1,700 was returned to AEP.
