Mother Arrested; Charged with Child Endangerment and Reckless Driving

An off-duty Aransas Pass Police Officer reported the driver of a blue PT Cruiser had swerved across the lane of traffic nearly striking the guard rail and another vehicle as he traveled from Portland to Corpus Christi.

Officers contacted Leah Cox (12/06/85) in the parking lot of the Stripes Convenience Store, 4101 Ayers Street.  In the vehicle with Cox were her 20-month-old infant daughter and her 6-year-old son.  Cox’s son was found asleep on the floor of the cargo area, while her daughter was in a safety seat.

Cox who appeared intoxicated was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests along with a Breath Test. She was arrested and charged with Endangering a Child/Criminal Negligence and Reckless Driving.

Both children were released to the father.
