A nineteen year old man was arrested Friday morning for stealing tires valued at about $1,600. Police were called to the 3700 block of Capri for a suspicious person sighted in the neighborhood at 4:00 in the morning. Police found the man described by the caller, 19-year-old Jeremy Longoria (11/19/1992). Longoria threw a cell phone to the ground once he saw police.
Police officers located Longoria’s truck parked nearby which had tools, landscaping blocks and vehicle parts that seemed unusual to the officers. The citizen that originally called to complain about the suspicious man met with officers and pointed out a nearby vehicle which had missing parts that matched the parts found in Longoria’s truck. The police officers were aware of several thefts of vehicles tires in this police district of the of the city. The owner of the vehicle with missing parts confirmed that Mr. Longoria had no permission to take the vehicle parts in this case. Longoria was arrested for felony theft because of the value of the property involved. Longoria was additionally charged with failure to identify because Longoria knowingly provided a false name to police during the investigation.
