Man Arrested For Assault At Anti-Bully Rally

A 38-year-old male was arrested Wednesday evening for assault at a rally against bullying.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for a large fight at the 2600 block of Waldron Road while a rally against bullies was held in front of a school. Several people complained to police that they were hit by 38-year-old Tommy Martin (2/7/1974). None of the victims were transported to the hospital for thier injuries. The victims had minor injuries and Martin was arrested for assault and public intoxication.

A witness told police an object was thrown from the crowd to hit Martins vehicle. The witness told police that Martin exited the car and attacked the people in the crowd that he (Martin) believed threw the object.

The assault charge placed against Martin is a Class A misdemeanor which is punishable by up to one year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine for each count of the offense. There were four victims that claimed minor injuries as a result of Martins action. The Public Intoxication charge against Martin is a Class C misdemeanor which is punishable by a fine up to a $500.
