Occurred on 04/08/12, 4:51 pm   Aggravated Assault   5700  Greenwood Drive   1204080096

An Easter gathering at Los Encinos Park was cut short when it turned violent for guests.  Officers rushed to the park when 911 calls for service were requested for multiple shots fired with one person being run over by a red pick-up truck.

Upon their arrival, Officers contacted several victims and witnesses who reported a confrontation had occurred between the victims and the 29-year-old brother of Andrew Flores (11/05/84) which escalated into a heated disagreement.

During the argument, Flores’ brother displayed a firearm and fired several rounds into the ground.  Witnesses told Officers, Flores who was driving a red 1996 Ford F-250 pick-up truck drove towards his brother and ran over him.

Flores stopped, helped his brother from underneath the truck and into his truck before driving off.  While still in the park, police were told the shooter was pulled from the vehicle and pistol whipped.

Flores again pulls his brother into his truck and drives off yet again.  They two were observed by Officers fleeing from the park and attempted to pull them over in the 1700 block of Frio Street.  Flores refused to stop and a short pursuit ensued.  It ended when Flores was pulled over in the 2100 block of Carolyn.

Flores was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.  His brother was transported to Spohn Memorial with a laceration to the head.

The aggravated assault remains an active investigation which has been taken over by the Criminal Investigation Division.
