Female Hides Purse to Conceal True Identity during Traffic Stop, Two Jailed

Officers in the 4600 block of Everhart pulled over a truck that was swerving erratically almost striking a black BMW.  The driver Samuel Handy (07/12/50) was found to be wanted and driving with an expired driver’s license.  Not believing the truth would come out, the female passenger lied to Officers about her identity, but forgot her correct date of birth with her chosen alias. 

Further investigation revealed Carolina Castillo (04/07/79) had concealed her purse in the vehicle to keep Officers from finding her identification card. Both Handy and Castillo were arrested and booked at the City Detention Center. 

Handy was charged with Driving While License Suspended/Invalid, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and the outstanding Municipal Court warrant for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility in the amount of $109.  His vehicle was also impounded.

Castillo was charged an outstanding San Patricio County warrant for Probation Violation for Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Methamphetamine, and Failure to Identify as a Fugitive.  She was additionally charged with Possession Controlled Substance, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after a variety of pills and drug paraphernalia were also found in her purse.
