Officers investigating an attack with a machete arrived to find the residents of 809 17th Street closing their blinds and turning off the lights. The sound of people arguing could be heard inside the home as Officers searched for victims. A 22-year-old man told Officers he was returning home from a BBQ when he was confront his neighbor who threw a beer bottle at him, smashing the front windshield of his truck.
The victim told Officers he got out of his truck to confront his neighbor, Arthur Mathew Fehrenbach (05/06/93) who ran home and armed himself with a knife. Fehrenbach returned to the victim’s house accompanied by his Uncle Jose Refugio Garcia (12/28/81) who was armed with a machete. Fehrenbach and Garcia pushed the door the door after Garcia cut and hit the screen door with the machete. The victim struck Fehrenbach with a baseball bat, while Garcia began swinging at him with the machete. A fight ensued on the porch until the suspects fled.
Both Fehrenbach and Garcia ran back to their house, but the arguing ensued as the neighbors continued to yell and argue with one another through the fence separating their homes. The victim threw a flower-pot at Garcia striking him in the head.
The victim sustained a couple of minor lacerations to his right arm during the assault. Officers arrested Fehrenbach and Garcia who were taken to Spohn Memorial to be medically cleared. Both were charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The machete was recovered and tagged as evidence.
