Occurred on 6/7/12,  5:00 am   Aggravated Assault  14305 S. Padre Island  1206070031

Officers were called out to Farah’s Bar for a disturbance and contacted bar employees in the parking lot.  One of the females was very distraught and appeared to have been assaulted.  Bar employees told Officers the suspect had assaulted his girlfriend, punching her in the face and pushing her to the ground.  The suspect then assaulted another employee who intervened.  A bar employee contacted the owner who returned to the bar to check on the victims’ welfare only to become a victim himself.  The suspect armed with a rifle threatened to kill the bar owner.  As the Officer was talking to the group he observed a male armed with a rifle approximately 30 to 40 feet away walking into the bar. 

Officers apprehended John Alvarez (1105/83) after he walked out the back door of bar and attempted to escape via the Anchor Resort next door.  Unbeknownst to Alvarez, Officers were waiting for him.  Alvarez was arrested and the rifle was recovered.  He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon on a Licensed Premise.   Alvarez was also found to have an outstanding warrant.
