Officers responded to the residence for a disturbance in which a man was restraining a woman on the floor. Upon their arrival Officers could hear a man telling a woman to calm down. The woman Amanda Deleon (03/03/70) sounded angry and intoxicated. When Officers knocked on the door, Deleon answered, but attempted to close the door on them when they asked on the welfare of the occupants of the residence.
Deleon was arrested for interfering. She resisted being handcuffed and struggled with Officers, hitting her face on the front door frame. Further investigation revealed, Deleon attacked her common-law husband with a knife. The victim was able to take the knife away and yelled for the suspect’s 11-year-old daughter to call 911.
The victim told Officers his 11-year-old son was in close proximity when Deleon charged at him with the knife. Neither the victim nor his son was injured in the assault, but both feared Deleon was going to kill them.
Deleon was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon~Family Violence and Interference with Public Duties. The suspect’s daughter was released to her aunt.
