Officers responded to an accident at the intersection of Ennis Joslin and Pharoah involving a grey Volkswagen Passat and a black Dodge pick-up truck. The truck struck the Passat and then bounced off, crashing into a concrete wall. The 15-year-old driver of the Passat sustained minor injuries, while her mother who was traveling with her suffered a broken right wrist. The driver of the truck had a broken right ankle and all three were taken to Spohn Memorial by CCFD Emergency Personnel.
A witness who was jogging southbound on Ennis Joslin told Police the truck appeared to be driving in excess of 100 M.P.H. when it passed him. The witness who is a Police Officer in Maryland ran to assist the accident victims.
Further investigation revealed the driver of the truck had been drinking and a blood draw taken. He was hospitalized and released to hospital staff due to the extent of his injuries.
The investigation continues and 21-year-old man could face Intoxicated Assault with Vehicle.
