An Officer responding to a shoplifting call arrested Heidi McElroy (05/18/95) for shoplifting at the Wal-Mart, 4109 S Staples Street. McElroy was observed by loss prevention officer to select make-up, nail polish, shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant and hide them in her purse.
McElroy walked out of the store and detained. While escorting her to the loss prevention officer, the Assistant Manager noticed a banned shoplifter entering the store. Cody Roberts (10//28/91) was also detained by loss prevention officers.
As Officers were arresting and processing McElroy and Roberts, a third person was seen shoplifting. Scott Michael Simon (09/10/85) was observed opening several movies, taking the discs out and hiding them in his short pockets. Simon was arrested along with McElroy and Roberts and booked at the City Detention Center.
McElroy and Roberts were charged with Theft, while Roberts was charged with Criminal Trespass. All three crimes are Class “B” misdemeanors which are punishable by up to 180 days and a $2,000 fine.
