On Tuesday morning, Officers contacted the victim who reported her two-year-old Rottweiler named “Capone” was stolen from her backyard. The victim told Officers she kept a lock on the gate, but the padlock was cut and her dog stolen.
The victim’s sister had seen the dog at 3523 Colonial Court, but was unaware the dog had been stolen. The sisters’ told Officers a man named “Craig” demanded she pay him $150 for the dog’s return. The man also threatened to take the dog out of the county, if she refused to pay him. The Officers checked the Colonial Court address, but “Craig” was no longer at the residence.
Later that evening, Police were again called to 3523 Colonial Court after Capone’s owner met with “Craig” at his residence. The meeting did not go as planned and “Craig” continued to demand $150 for Capone’s return. A friend who accompanied Capone’s owner became involved in an argument with “Craig” which escalated into a brief vehicle chase which ended when the victim’s friend struck the the suspect’s vehicle. The victim claimed “Craig” had reversed and struck her truck. A male passenger exited the vehicle and threw a brick at “Craig’s” truck shattering the rear window. “Craig” grabbed a bat and smashed the victim’s truck window.
Officers reported all parties had different versions of the events which occurred and no one was arrested. Capone was not at the residence and the investigation will continue into his “dognapping” and last night’s assault.
