The Narcotics Vice Investigations Division conducted an undercover prostitution sting on October 17, 2012 beginning at 6:00pm and ending at 9:30pm. The sting targeted the prostitutes in specific areas in which complaints have been received, mainly in the North Central region of the city. The sting resulted in the arrest of ten men and women. They include:
- Valerie Nicole Figueroa (12/02/86) was charged with Prostitution, Class “B” Misdemeanor, 1210170119
- Belinda Gonzalez (12/07/69) was charged with Prostitution, State Jail Felony, 1210170111
- Cynthia Mims (05/31/85) was charged with Prostitution, State Jail Felony, 1210170143
- Patricia Hernandez (03/05/71) was charged with Prostitution, Class “B” Misdemeanor, 1210170123
- Irene Lopez (09/02/79) was charged with Prostitution, Class “B” Misdemeanor, 1210170117
- Efrain Ibarra (12/22/94) was charged with Prostitution, Class “B” Misdemeanor, 1210170140
- Martha Elisha Smith (05/06/83) was charged with Prostitution, Class “B” Misdemeanor, 1210170149
- Lourdes Ibarra (07/21/71)was charged with Prostitution, Class “B” Misdemeanor, 1210170146
- Benjamin Brooks (05/13/85) Two Counts of Delivery of Dangerous Drugs, 1210170154
- Rose O’Quinn (07/12/57) Delivery/Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1210170126
The men and women were booked at the City Detention Center. One man and five women were charged with Prostitution, which is a Class “B” Misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine. Two of the women were charged with Prostitution, a State Jail Felony (three or more convictions) which is punishable by up two years in jail and $10,000 fine. Two were also booked on drug related State Jail Felonies.
