Occurred on 10/21/12, 4:32pm Wanted Subject/Possession of a Firearm by Felon 1033 Whitaker 1210210096
Senior Officer B. Martin was patrolling his beat when he drove by a well-known drug house and observed a white Ford Explorer parked in the driveway. The Explorer was found to be stolen out of Austin.
Officer Martin called for back-up and contacted John Douglas Houston (02/15/78) who was found to wanted on several warrants. Further investigation revealed Houston was the “owner” of the stolen vehicle. He was found to be armed with a pocket knife and a black jack.
Senior Officer L. Preiss and his canine partner were called to assist and “Kimbo” alerted to the center console where Officers found a Hide-a-Can along with a revolver. Houston was arrested and charged with four outstanding Nueces County warrants along with Theft, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (black jack) and Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm by a Felon.
Lt. P. McMenamy nominated Senior Officers Martin and Preiss along with “Kimbo” as Officers of the Month noting this was Kimbo’s second alert this month in which a handgun was recovered.
