Occurred on 11/06/12, 11:44pm Burglary of a Vehicle 4800 Orchid/3800 Sarita 1211060007
Police were called to the Homewood Suites for several individuals checking door handles in the parking lot. Upon the Officers arrival, a witness told them the two males and a female had left were last seen walking towards Ayers Street.
Officer contacted the three individuals and observed one of males drop a couple of credit cards to the ground along with a backpack containing GPS system, an iPod, and a watch. The 17-year-old female was also found to have a GPS system inside her purse. Bruce Garcia (12/18/93) and Aria Gutierrez (10/04/95) were detained. The third male was later released.
The GPS system led Officers to the burglary victim in the 4800 block of Orchid. The victim told Officers he had just finished reporting the burglary of his Chrysler Town and Country van online and provided them with a tracking number. The credit cards found on Garcia had the victim’s and his wife’s name on them.
At the same time, another Officer was checking the address on the second GPS system and contacted a second victim who had reported her GPS stolen along with her iPod. A third victim told Officers a pair of Versace sunglasses had been stolen and filed a police report about an hour before. The sunglasses were also found in Garcia’s backpack.
Both Garcia and Gutierrez were arrested and charged with Burglary of a Vehicle which is a Class “A” Misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. The stolen items were returned to the victims.
