Occurred on 11/06/12, 3:38pm Major Accident Leopard/Callicoate C1208485/1211060111
Patrol Officers and Traffic Investigators responded to a three vehicle accident in the 12100 block of Leopard. Upon their arrival, Officers found a maroon Chevrolet Trail Blazer and grey GMC Terrain in the intersection. The third vehicle, a tan Ford F350 had left the roadway and struck an electrical pole.
Further investigation revealed the Ford pick-up truck that was traveling southbound on Callicoate ran the red light and struck the Trail Blazer who was headed eastbound on Leopard. The impact caused the Trail Blazer to collide with the Terrain who was in the outside shoulder attempting to turn southbound onto Callicoate Road. The F350 continued until it crash into a utility pole, splitting it in half.
The 60-year-old driver of the Trail Blazer was rushed to Spohn Memorial with life-threatening injuries. The 49-year-old driver of the F-350 sustained minor injuries and also taken to the hospital. A mandatory blood draw was taken due to the seriousness of the accident. The 23-year-old driver of SUV along with her 4-year-old passenger would seek their own doctor for a medical evaluation.
The investigation is ongoing and will be conducted by Traffic Division Investigators. There have been no charges filed at this time.
