A 30-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning for Burglary of a Habitation on the 700 block of Atlantic.
A 63-year-old woman called police at about 10am to report a man who jumped a fence at her neighbor’s house. The 63-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man told the responding Corpus Christi Police Officer that the man who jumped the fence had a bag and left toward Staples Street.
The Police Officer went to Staples Street and saw 30-year-old Richard Cavada (4/27/1982) run on Sixteenth Street near Staples Street. Cavada had a gym bag and matched the description provided by the 51-year-old man and the 63-year-old woman.
The officer discovered property that was later reported as stolen. The investigating officers discovered a broken back door to a residence and the home owner identified property that was missing from inside the home.
Cavada was arrested for Burglary of a Habitation, a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Cavada also was arrested for a Municipal Court Warrant for failure to appear.
