Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Overnight Accident

Occurred on 11/08/12, 9:32pm  Major Accident  1900 Roddfield  C1208548    

Police were called to a major accident involving a blue four-door Suzuki Forenza and a black Suzuki Colt motorcycle.  A witness told Officers the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Roddfield when the Forenza made a left hand onto a private drive.  As he began his turn, the 26-year-old driver saw the outline of the motorcycle and swerved to avoid hitting the motorcyclist.  He told Officers the motorcycle did not have its light on.  It was later discovered the motocycle did not have a headlight.

The 21-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to Spohn Memorial with head and back injuries.  As of last night he was in Critical Condition at Memorial’s Intensive Care Unit.  The driver of the Forenza was uninjured.

Traffic Accident Investigators were called to assist and they will be conducting accident investigation.  At this time, the accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed or citations issued.

“We encourage all our driving public to look out for motorcyclist and we also encourage all  motorcyclists to wear helmets and proper safety equipment,” implored Captain Edward Shannon.
