Occurred on 1/3/13, 04:18am Driving While Intoxicated Ayers and Gollihar 1301030008
Police were called to the area of Ayers and Gollihar for a suspected drunk driver traveling the wrong way on Gollihar. Officers contacted the driver Nicole Marie Barrera (07/03/91) when she pulled behind the CVS Pharmacy at Ayers and Horne. Further investigation revealed, a witness observed the silver Hyundai Accent driven by Barrera headed the wrong way on Gollihar when it almost struck a tow truck with a taxi cab on it. He called Police and reported the dangerous driver.
Barrera who appeared intoxicated was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests along with a Breath Test. She was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center. Barrera was charged with Driving While Intoxicated Blood Alcohol Content over .15 which is a Class “A” Misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
The Corpus Christi Police Department welcomes citizens getting involved and reporting crime, but asks that citizens do not follow suspected drunk drivers because of the risks involved. We ask that you call 911 and report the suspected drunk driver. MetroComm call takers will quickly issue a B.O.L.O. (Be On the Lookout) and assign the call to nearest Officer.
