A 24-year-old man was shot in his home on the 1000 block of Deforrest Street Monday afternoon when he interrupted a burglary in progress.
The 24-year-old man told Corpus Christi Police he walked into his home and noticed the front door was open. The 24-year-old man said he heard noise at the back of his home and confronted a strange man who wore a ski mask. The man with the mask pointed a handgun at the 24-year-old man and shot once which struck the 24-year-old man in his upper right arm. The man in the mask dropped the gun and ran out of the house.
A 23-year-old woman said she was at the home and left momentarily to go to the convenience store. The 23-year-old woman said she left the door unlocked because she intended to be gone for a short time and expected the 24-year-old man to be home soon. The 23-year-old woman said she returned to the home and saw the 24-year-old man was injured and she drove him to the nearby hospital for treatment.
The man and woman said they do not know the intruder. Corpus Christi Police are searching for a Hispanic man, about 5 ft. 8 inches to 6 feet tall, with brown eyes, a black ski mask, white shirt, and blue jeans.
