Occurred Monday, February 04, 2013, 8:35am, 5900 Norvel Dr. Warrant of arrest and Evading Arrest, 1302040046

                A 35-year-old man was arrested after he ran from Corpus Christi Police Officers on the 5900 block of Norvel Drive near Cullen Park Monday morning.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for a man sleeping on the sidewalk at Norvel Drive and Belmeade Drive at 8:35am. A patrol officer woke 35-year-old Rocky Cooper (5/20/1977) and asked for identification. Cooper then reached for a bag, then pushed the officer and ran.

The officer chased Cooper until Cooper ran behind a house. The officer then found Cooper hidden in a recycle bin and Cooper refused to get out of the container. Cooper was exposed to the Electronic Control Device and then was placed in handcuffs.

Cooper had a warrant for his arrest and he was additionally charged with evading arrest. Cooper was then delivered to the city detention center.
