A 36-year-old woman attempted to pose as a hotel employee to avoid authorities when the hotel management arrived with police to confront the woman about complaints at the hotel on South Padre Island Drive Wednesday afternoon.
A hotel manager requested police officers to provide assistance with an eviction of a guest who had been the cause of several complaints from other guests. Two Corpus Christi Police Patrol Officers walked with the manager to the room. A 36-year-old woman came out of the room as the officers approached, and the woman quickly grabbed a broom from a nearby housekeeper’s cart. The woman began to sweep the front of the room and told the officers she was not a guest in the room. The officers were not convinced the woman was there to clean the room and the manager told the officers the woman was not an employee.
The officers discovered contraband in plain view in the room and 36-year-old Erica Lisa Trevino (2/11/1976) was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance in Penalty group 1 (a state jail felony), for possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3 (a Class A misdemeanor), Possession of drug paraphernalia (a Class C misdemeanor), Fail to Identify as a fugitive from justice (a Class A misdemeanor), and for a warrant for her arrest for Possession of a controlled substance. Officers then delivered Trevino to the city detention center.
