Man Enters the Freeway, Then Changes His Mind and Crashes Into A Building

A 40-year-old man drove a truck off the freeway where there was no exit and the truck flipped and caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to a commercial building.

The man was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-incapacitating injuries and did wear his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The 40-year-old man drove a white 2003 Chevrolet pickup west on the 4100 block of South Padre Island Drive. The man traveled on the entrance ramp to the freeway; but, then chose to get back on the access road and lost control of the truck. The truck rolled and struck the building and landed on the top of the vehicle. The man was then transported to the hospital with injuries police believe are not life-threatening.

Corpus Christi Police Patrol Officers believe alcohol consumption was a contributing factor to the crash. The 40-year-old man may have criminal charges for Driving While Intoxicated applied once he is released from treatment by the hospital.
