RobertCharlesBryan

Police were called to a local apartment complex for a disturbance involving an eviction notice.  Robert Charles Bryan (04/16/76) was frantic about the apartment manager posting an eviction notice on his door.  Bryan said he would call 911 until police arrived.

Numberous calls to 911 were made in which Bryan would not respond and hang up.  A total of 22 calls were made within an eighteen minute time span. Upon their arrival, Officers contacted Bryan and found him not to be injured or have any noticeable injuries.

Bryan was arrested and charged with Silent Abusive Calls to 911 Service which is a Class “B” Misdemeanor and punishable by 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to remind everyone that the 911 system was created to provide a swift response for those who need it.  911 should only be dialed in an emergency when an “immediate threat to life or property exists.”

Please call 911 when you observe a crime in progress, someone is sick or injured, when something is on fire or when someone is being physically assaulted.

Don’t call 911 to test your phone, when the power goes out, to check the time, or find out if school is open.   If needing police or fire assistance, please don’t call and hang up. Try to remain calm when calling 911 so dispatchers will understand that you have an emergency and assist you.  If you need police assistance, please call our non-emergency number at 361-886-2600.
