Case Number: 1403150020
Corpus Christi Police arrested 37-year-old John Guerra (3/4/1977) for a variety of charges after he fled from state police Friday night. Corpus Christi Police were called by the Texas Department of Public Safety at 10:40pm Friday night to assist with a vehicle pursuit from Port Aransas. Corpus Christi Police Officers set up tire deflation devices on the road of Highway 361, but the suspect vehicle avoided the devices. The devices were struck by two uninvolved civilian cars, a vehicle for the Texas Parks and Wild Life Department and two cars for the Texas Department of Public Safety. The vehicle pursuit was then cancelled.
A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw the suspect vehicle again at 1:30am Saturday and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle fled and the Corpus Christi Police Officer did not continue the pursuit in compliance with Department policy. A Warden of the Texas Department of Public Safety did continue to pursue the vehicle. Corpus Christi Police Officers deployed tire deflation devices and were successful to safely deflate the tires of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop at the Oso Bay turnaround and the operator fled on foot. Corpus Christi Police chased and captured Guerra. Officers arrested Guerra for evading arrest in a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, a warrant for his arrest for a parole violation for robbery, and for possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers impounded the red 2010 Ford Raptor Guerra used in this event and delivered Guerra to the city detention center.
