Corpus Christi Police Evaluate Driving While Intoxicated Statistics

The Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section released statistics related to the offenses associated with driving while intoxicated for the year to date.

The Corpus Christi Police Department made 362 arrests by April 1, 2014 for Driving While Intoxicated or Driving Under the influence which is a 27% increase from the same time last year. There were 284 arrests for Driving While Intoxicated or for Driving Under the Influence by April 1, 2013 with a total of 1,203 total arrest for D.W.I. or D.U.I. in 2013. There were 154 D.W.I. arrests made in the month of March 2014 was an all time record high for a month surpassing the previous high record of 135 set in March of 2013.

10 for intoxicated assault
9 DWI with Child Passenger
1 intoxicated manslaughter
