The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 217 original reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight March 31 to 7:00 a.m. April 1, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

“Bravo” District

Offense: Warrant of Arrest (Code of Criminal Procedure Section 15.01)

Corpus Christi Police arrested 42-year-old Shayna Barnes (10/17/1971) at the 600 block of Sandy Oaks Drive from a Crime Stoppers tip for a warrant for her arrest for a felony charge of Driving While Intoxicated Monday night. Officers delivered the fugitive to the city detention center. There were ten fugitives arrested from tips to Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers in March for a total of $2,525 dollars in approved rewards just for the apprehension of those fugitives. Several other Crime Stoppers tips led to arrests of offenders in our area in March and the Corpus Christi Police thanks the community for the support and information against crime in this community.

 

“Charlie” District

Offense: Child Abandonment (Penal Code Section 22.041) State Jail Felony

Corpus Christi Police arrested 17-year-old Leslie Gutierrez-Romero (6/26/1996) for child abandonment at an apartment located at 802 Barry Street Monday night. A 16-year-old girl complained to Corpus Christi Police about several young children unattended in an apartment. Officers discovered four children with an age range from 11 to 2 years old, in the apartment unattended. Officers were able to contact the 36-year-old mother of the children at her place of employment. The 36-year-old woman told Officers she left the children in the care of Gutierrez-Romero. Officers found Gutierrez-Romero and continued the investigation. Officers turned over the children to the 36-year-old woman and arrested Gutierrez-Romero for child abandonment. Officers then delivered Gutierrez-Romero to the city detention center.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger (Penal Code Section 49.045) State Jail Felony

Corpus Christi Police arrested 33-year-old Sonia Marmolejo (13/3/1980) for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger on the 2700 block of Agnes Street Monday afternoon. A Corpus Christi Police Officer on routine patrol discovered a vehicle crash at 4:15pm Monday afternoon. The Officer learned that a white 1994 Geo Prism struck a black 1999 GMC Sierra pickup from behind. The Officer detected evidence that the driver of the Geo Prism, 33-year-old Sonia Mamolejo, was intoxicated. The Officer learned Marmolejo had an 11-year-old passenger in the vehicle. Marmolejo was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. The 11-year-old girl was not injured and released to other family members. The Officer continued to investigate the crash and collected a blood specimen from Marmolejo at the hospital. The Officer arrested Marmolejo for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a state jail felony offense punishable by up to two years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. The Officer additionally issued Marmolejo citations for driving without a license, fail to control speed, and no insurance. The Officer impounded the Geo Prism at the scene. Marmolejo was released from the hospital and the Officer delivered Marmolejo to the city detention center.
