Corpus Christi Police arrested 35-year-old Benjamin Govella (11/3/1978) for unauthorized use of a vehicle at FM 1889 Tuesday morning. A 29-year-old man reported his company truck stolen from a convenience store located at 14901 Northwest Boulevard at 10:10am. The 29-year-old man explained to Officers that he left the keys in the ignition with the engine running while he went into the store and the truck was gone when the 29-year-old man returned. The Nueces County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Corpus Christi Police to track the vehicle to a private driveway on FM 1889 by a locator device on the truck. Corpus Christi Police arrested Govella for unauthorized use of a vehicle which is punishable by up to two years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. The truck was returned to the 29-year-old man and Officers delivered Govella to the city detention center.

A 28-year-old man reported a burglary of his vehicle while it was parked overnight at an apartment parking lot located at 5757 Wooldridge Road to the Corpus Christi Police. The 28-year-old man told Officers some unknown person entered his silver 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup while it was parked and unattended overnight and the person took a pistol left inside the truck.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 24-year-old Debbie Salazar (9/9/1989) for unauthorized use of a vehicle on the 1200 block of South Port Avenue Tuesday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw a brake light out on a white 2000 GMC Yukon which was stopped at the intersection of Port and Morgan. The Officer conducted a traffic stop for the inoperable brake light and discovered the Yukon was reported stolen hours earlier from a restaurant at the 200 block of North Staples Street. The original report stated that a 47-year-old man reported the Yukon stolen at 3:30pm and told Officers he left the keys in the ignition and the engine running while he went inside to get food. The Officer who conducted the traffic stop at 12:12am on April 1st impounded the Yukon and delivered Salazar to the city detention center.
