Corpus Christi Police arrested 42-year-old Johnnie Shull (6/29/1971) for discharging a firearm inside the city limits and for public intoxication at Padre Bali Park Tuesday night. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a man who discharged a firearm in the air at the park. Officers found Shull with a pistol and arrested him for discharging a firearm inside the city limits and for public intoxication.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer is credited with possibly saving the life of a 55-year-old woman from an apartment fire at 9320 South Padre Island Drive Tuesday morning. Three Corpus Christi Police Officers: Lieutenant Tom Nichols; Officer Brian Martin; and Officer Andres Alvarez responded to a fire at an apartment at 2:30am Tuesday morning and arrived before the Fire Department. The Officers heard screams and saw smoke inside the apartment and they forced open the door to provide help. Lt. Nichols heard the yelling from one of the occupants getting closer, but apparently unable to get to the door. At that point, Lt. Nichols got onto his hands and knees and crawled through the apartment living room where the couch and recliner were on fire. Amidst the smoke, Lt. Nichols made it into the hall where he made contact with a 55 year old woman and pulled her out of the apartment.
The Corpus Christi Fire Department arrived and attacked the fire, then were able to rescue a 28 year old woman. The 28 year old woman and the 55 year old woman were transported to the hospital for injuries from the fire. Lt. Nichols was transported to Bay Area Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and released. Officers Martin and Alvarez were treated for minor smoke inhalation and released back to duty.

A 43-year-old woman reported a theft at a grocery store located at 5313 Saratoga Boulevard to Corpus Christi Police Tuesday in which the suspect left behind an eight month old child. Corpus Christi Police responded to the complaint at 8:40pm and the 43-year-old woman explained to Officers that she saw a 24-year-old woman take merchandise from the store displays and load a shopping cart, then walk out of the store without paying for the merchandise. The 43-year-old woman told Officers she confronted the 24-year-old woman and the 24-year-old woman left the shopping cart behind and ran to a red Ford Mustang, then drove away. The 43-year-old woman told Officers an eight month old child was in the shopping cart left behind by the 24-year-old woman. Officers contacted a family member of the child to care for the baby. Officers were not able to locate the 24-year-old woman, but know her identity. Officers generated a criminal complaint for the theft and for child abandonment.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 23-year-old Meagan Boswell (2/13/1991) for driving while intoxicated after she was found asleep at the wheel at a drive through window at a restaurant located at 6505 Everhart Road Tuesday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a woman asleep at the wheel in a black 2013 Chevrolet truck at 3:10am and the truck was drifting slowly into traffic from the parking lot. Officers banged on the vehicle until Boswell woke and the Officers made sure she was not injured or ill. Officers then arrested Boswell, impounded the truck, then delivered Boswell to the city detention center.
