Patrol Report May 15, 2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 206 original reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight May 14 to 7:00 a.m. May 15, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Offense: Terrorist Threat (PC 22.07 Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business at 13630 Northwest Blvd. for a subject refusing to leave. The officers contacted Mark Verastiqui (03-11-73) who was yelling vulgarities in front of customers and children. Officers detained him in a police unit and while seated in the back seat he head butted the cage in the unit causing a small gash on his upper forehead. He then began spitting blood all over the inside of the police car. The suspect made threats to kill the employees at the business and threatened to shoot the officers. CCFD EMS responded to the scene and he refused to let medics tend to his cut and he was transported to the hospital. There he still refused to let anyone treat the injury, and continued to scream vulgar insults at the officers and hospital personnel. A medical refusal was obtained and the suspect was booked at the City Detention Center for making the threats which is a Class B Misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor, for yelling vulgarities that offended the business employees and the customers.

Offense: Burglary of Habitation (P.C. 30.02 2nd Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police responded to a residence in the 2700 block of Camargo Street for a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the officers saw David Garcia (04/17/1980) coming out of the house and Geronimo Sanchez (11/03/1980) was sitting inside a vehicle that was full of property taken from the home. Mr. Garcia told officers that he lived at the home. When the 63 year old female homeowner arrived, she stated that Mr. Garcia had been legally evicted from the home last year, because he was pawning property that belonged to her. The victim stated that she would press charges on both men because she is tired of them stealing from her home. The investigation revealed that the suspects gained entry to the house through a back living room door and ransacked the home. Both suspects were also found to have guns in their possession. Mr. Garcia was booked on charges of burglary of a habitation, possession of marijuana, and unlawful carrying of a weapon, Mr. Sanchez was charged with burglary of a habitation and felon in possession of a firearm a third degree felony.

Offense: Assault (PC 22.01 Class A Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police responded to an assault call at an apartment complex in the 900 block of
South Navigation Blvd. The suspect, Billy Bisby (12-13-79) had assaulted a 34 year old victim, and left the area in a vehicle. After officers left the scene the suspect returned to the apartment kicked in the door and stole the victim’s purse. With officers assistance, the victim then left the apartment to stay at another location. Again, after everyone had left the apartment the suspect came back to the apartment and then began to call the victim on the phone over 10 times. He was leaving the area again in a vehicle when he was spotted by officers at the Interstate 37 and Navigation intersection. The suspect was arrested for the assault and theft for the purse which he still had in the car.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (PC 49.04 Class B Misdemeanor)

Several Corpus Christi Police units responded to a rollover crash on State Highway 358 West between Airline Road and Staples Street. Kristina Gonzalez (11-21-1987) was driving her 2004 Mazda Sedan when she lost control and struck the center median on the freeway causing her vehicle to roll over. Officers arrived and found the vehicle flipped over and resting on its passenger side. The driver was not pinned in the vehicle, but was unable to get out. CCFD EMS and Rescue units responded and they were able to stabilize the car and get her out with a ladder. During the investigation of the crash, officers found the driver to be intoxicated. She was taken to the hospital for treatment and there she consented to give a specimen of her blood. After being medically cleared and she was taken to the City Detention Center, and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
