Case Number: 1407090066
Corpus Christi Police arrested 29-year-old Antonio Jahfari Kelly (9/21/1984) for aggravated assault after Kelly was accused of discharging a firearm at another motorist on the 6200 block of South Padre Island Drive Wednesday morning. A 65-year-old man flagged down a Corpus Christi Police Officer at 11:20am and complained that another motorist shot a gun at him, the 65-year-old man, in a road rage incident on the freeway.
The 65-year-old man told the Officer he drove east on State Highway 358 at 65 miles per hour in the fast lane and was approached from behind by a black Chevrolet Camaro at a high rate of speed. The 65-year-old man told the Officer he was unable to move out of the way of the Camaro because of traffic in the center lane which seemed to irritate the driver of the Camaro. The 65-year-old man told the Officer both vehicles exited the freeway near Airline Road and as they turned onto the 6200 block of Hanley Street, the driver of the Camaro fired a single shot at the 65-year-old man. No person or vehicle was hit by the shot. The 65-year-old man told the Officer he got away and flagged down the Officer working traffic enforcement in the area. The 65-year-old man provided police with a description of the suspect vehicle, the vehicles license plate, and a description of the suspect. Officers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle parked at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Saratoga Boulevard. Corpus Christi Police Officers contacted the suspect who matched the description given by the 65-year-old man inside his apartment. Officers discovered evidence of the crime and arrested Antonio Kelly (09/21/1984) for aggravated assault, a second degree felony. No injuries or property damage was reported and Officers then delivered Kelly to the city detention center.
