Corpus Christi police Officers responded to a restaurant in the 6800 block of S. Padre Island Drive for a male suspect in a blue Dodge truck in the drive thru passed out. Officers found the ignition of the truck was on, the truck was in drive, and the driver was unresponsive and had his foot on the brake. The driver was identified as Adan Atkinson (04/22/1975) and he was found to be intoxicated, and he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor, and his truck was impounded.

Offense: Theft (PC 30.01 Class B Misdemeanor)

A 65 year old female victim contacted Corpus Christi Police and told officers that she had just finished eating dinner at a restaurant located in the 4200 block of S. Padre Island Dr. As the victim and her daughter exited the restaurant they noticed a white male walk out of the restaurant right behind them. While they were on their way to the car the man grabbed the victims’ purse and slung her around in a circle causing her to fall to the pavement. She said she held on to her purse and her daughter fought the man off. The man released the purse and ran away from the restraint on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, about 5’6” tall, 140 pounds, wearing a white shirt with black stripes, khaki shorts and a dark baseball cap. The victim told officers that during the struggle the suspect lost his shoes, and he ran away in his socks. Officers tagged the shoes as evidence and the victim suffered some scratches and minor cuts on her arm. The manager of the restaurant told officers that the suspect had also left the restaurant without paying for the meal and drinks he consumed amounting to over $50.00. The suspect faces theft of services charges in that case as well.

Offense: Discharge of Firearm (PC 42.12 Class A Misdemeanor)

A 22 year old male called Corpus Christi Police from the Spohn South Emergency Room and told them that he had been shot and robbed at a convenience store. When officers started questioning the male, he changed his story several times. The male did have a single gunshot wound to his right thigh, however, the investigation revealed that he was at his apartment in the 5200 block of Weber Rd. and he had shot himself. Witnesses said he was fooling around with a .22 caliber rifle when it went off. The male remained at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The male now faces discharging a firearm charge, a Class A misdemeanor.

Offense: Assault on a Peace Officer (PC22.01 Third Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a home located in the 2500 block of Milo St. and while there they contacted suspect, Pamela Escobedo (04/23/1985) who had been fighting with her mother. The female suspect was sitting in a vehicle in the driveway and was refusing to answer any questions from the officers. The officers went to speak to the 62 year old mother who had come outside of the house, and as they walked to her, the suspect attacked one of the officers from behind. The other officer attempted to stop her and he was pushed in the chest, and his glasses were knocked off. As the struggle continued, they wound up on the ground and the suspect grabbed a handful of rocks and she threw them at the officers. She was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody, and charged with the assault, a third degree felony, resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor, and failure to identify, a Class C misdemeanor. The officers reported only minor injuries.

Offense: Burglary of a Building (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)

A 36 year old female called Corpus Christi Police and said that she woke up to someone knocking on her front door. When she answered the door, the person told her that he was there to pick up a tire rim from the back tool shed that her husband had given him. When she called her husband he said that he did not give the tire rim to anyone. By the time the female walked back outside, the male had already left with the property. Officers discovered the tool shed`s font door was open and there were three more rims inside the shed. The stolen tire rim was valued at about $150. A female witness told officers that she saw the suspect riding a bicycle on Sonora St. They went to the area and found Guadalupe Trevino (07/15/1983) and arrested him for burglary of a building, s state jail felony. The property was returned to the owner.
