Case Number: 1408270011
A 33 year old male victim told Corpus Christi Police Officers that he was threatened with a gun after he offered to tell some males a joke for a quarter.  The victim said he was walking in the 600 block of N. Chaparral St. when he saw five males together outside of a bar. When the victim offered to tell a funny joke in exchange for a quarter the five males began to argue with the victim.  He ran to the Greyhound Bus Station, and called police.  Before police could arrive the victim had to leave because the five males were walking up. The victim went to a bar located in the 400 block of Starr Street and again called police.  Two of the five suspects caught up to the victim outside of the bar, and one of the suspects Juan Luna (08/16/1975) told the other suspect he was with Ashby Lopez (12/29/1994) to shoot the victim.  The victim said Lopez pulled out a black 9 mm handgun, pointed at him, and cocked the trigger.  Luna encouraged Lopez to shoot the victim however, he did not, and they both fled on foot.  Officers responding to this call were given a description of the vehicle that the suspects left the scene in by several witnesses. Officers located all five suspects in a 2001 brown Mercury Marquis sedan driving down Mesquite St. and took the two suspects into custody.  The other three males were identified and released. Officers impounded the suspect’s vehicle, and during the inventory process they located a cocked handgun under the rear seat.
