Patrol Report September 24, 2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 198 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight September 23 to 7:00 a.m. on September 24, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Bravo” District

Offense: Forgery                   (PC 32.21       Third Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police went to a business located at 10361 S. Padre Island Dr. and picked up two fake $20 bills that were used to make purchases over the past few days. The store manager reported that one of the bills was passed during the day on Friday, the other on Monday.  Officers confiscated the counterfeit bills and are reviewing video from the store to see if any suspects can be identified.

Offense: Possession of a Controlled Substance      (HS 481.115    Third Degree Felony)

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was on patrol in the area of Nile Dr. and S. Padre Island Dr. when he observed a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage four door with a defective head light. The officer stopped the car and found a 40 year old female driver who had no driver’s license or liability insurance. Also in the car was a 28 year old male passenger.  Since the female did not have liability insurance on her vehicle, the officer made the decision to impound it and arrest the driver for driving with a suspended license.  During the inventory for impound, the officer found two syringes with a clear liquid substance in them in the glove compartment.  He also found a container with twelve smaller plastic bags with a powdery brown substance in them. The brown powdery substance was 7.2 grams of heroin, and the clear liquid substance was determined to be 2.2 grams of methamphetamines.  The officers arrested the female driver Rose Guillen (01/25/1974) and the male passenger Richard Villarreal (10/21/1985) for two counts each of possession of a controlled substance, a third degree felony.

A 27 year old male victim walked into Bay Area Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right side of his head. The victim said he was robbed at gunpoint around 6:30 a.m. outside an apartment located at 4625 Kostoryz Rd.  The victim told officers he was staying at a friend`s apartment when he walked into the parking lot to get something from his vehicle.  Two unknown hispanic males attacked him and beat him up, kicking him in the face.  The suspects took cash from the victim and one of the males held the gun close to his face and shot while he was pinned down on the ground.  The victim sustained a graze wound to the right side of his head just above his ear.  During the officers investigation into how the victim had arrived at the hospital officers found he was driven to the emergency room by a girlfriend.  She was identified as Seannette Villarreal (08/22/1987) and she was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest.  She was taken into custody on two felony warrants for the most recent robbery involving a theft and the dragging of the loss prevention employee at the Academy Store earlier this month.  The victim was discharged from the emergency room shortly after being treated with no life threatening injuries.

Offense: Burglary of a Vehicle                    (PC 30.04       Class A Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call for burglary of vehicles in the 4400 block of Hamlin Street. A witness reported seeing two suspects going into parked cars along the street. The witness said he was following the suspects and he had seen them go into the Whataburger Restaurant located at 4126 S. Staples St.  Officers arrived and contacted both suspects Alfredo Vasquez (02/24/1992) and Robert Gutierrez (07/27/1996) who were found in possession of stolen property.  Officers were able to locate two cars that had been broken into, one in the 4500 block of Marie St. and the other in the 4400 block of Hamlin St. Officers are still investigating as to how many other cars may have been burglarized in that area. Both suspects were charged with burglary to a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor.  Mr. Vasquez, was additionally charged with several outstanding arrest warrants.

Corpus Christi Police and Fire units responded to the construction site of a new apartment complex located at 2725 Leopard St. for a fire. A witness told officers that he saw two males run out of a unit that is under construction and jump the fence. The witness was able to direct officers to the area he had last seen the suspects, and very quickly officers found Daniel Trejo (12/10/1991) and a 16 year old male.  Mr. Trejo was arrested and charged with arson, a second degree felony and inducing curfew, a Class C misdemeanor for his association with the 16 year old.  The 16 year old male was taken to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center. Damage at the construction site was limited to a few boards and sheetrock.
