Patrol Report October 8, 2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 202 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight October 7 to 7:00 a.m. on October 8, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Adam” District

Location: Labonte Park
Offense: Vehicle in the River
Case Number: 1410070153
Corpus Christi Police responded to a call about a vehicle that had driven off the boat ramp at Labonte Park and into the Nueces River. A 24 year old male told officers he was attempting to harm himself when he drove his 1983 Ford truck into the river.  When the truck began to submerge the man got out. Officers were unable to see the truck after it sank in the river.  The Corpus Christi Police Dive team will attempt to remove the vehicle sometime later today. The man was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

Offense: Possession of a Controlled Substance                  (HS 481.115 State Jail Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a theft at a business located at 6101 Saratoga Blvd. Store employees called police after they observed a male suspect take items out of the store without paying. The male and two other females got into a gold colored Ford Explorer and were leaving the scene when officers arrived.  The driver, Ryan Robertson (02/21/1992) was arrested for the theft, a state jail felony and a back seat passenger Sonya Cisneros (11/05/1977) was found to be in possession of two syringes that had heroin inside. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.  The other 39 year old female in the car was released, however she had to walk because the vehicle she was riding in was impounded.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating more reports of businesses taking in counterfeit money. Officers responded to a business located at 4301 Kostoryz Rd. after the store manager said that they received a fake ten dollar bill on Monday and a fake five on Tuesday.  The store manager is attempting to find video of which customer passed the fake bills. Both bills were collected as evidence and detectives continue to investigate these forgery cases.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating more reports of tires and rims being stolen off of parked vehicles. Officers responded to a car dealership located at 4721 Ayers St. after two trucks, both 2014 Ford F150’s, had all four tires and rims stolen. The value of each tire and rim was estimated to be $1500.00, a total value of $6000.00.

Offense: Criminal Trespass                         (PC 30.05 Class B Misdemeanor)

A 34 year old male who was jogging down Ocean Dr. called Corpus Christi Police when he observed two males looking over gates into different properties. He then noticed that there was an open window at one of the homes and then saw two shadows inside. Officers arrived and found a window was broken open to a house that was currently empty. Officers entered the house and found Richard Follen (10/25/1976) and Kevin Van Aelst (01/11/1975) hiding inside.  The males said they went inside to get away from the mosquitoes.  Both males were arrested for criminal trespass, for being on the property without the owner’s consent.  They were additionally charged with criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor, for the damage that was done to the property.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery                                 (PC 29.03 First Degree Felony)

A customer eating at a downtown restaurant located at 414 Starr Street turned robber when he didn’t have enough money to pay his tab. A 22 year old female cashier told Corpus Christi Police that she saw Joseph Miguez (10/24/1979) finish his meal, then walk behind the counter and face her. The man then demanded the cashier give him all the money from the register. The cashier saw the suspect holding a knife that he picked up from a restaurant table in his hand. The cashier refused to give him any money and the suspect made threats to harm her. When the suspect took a step toward her she pushed him back with both hands and called for help from someone in the kitchen.  The suspect heard this and ran out of the restaurant with the knife.  The restaurant cook chased the suspect and caught him down the street.  Officers found the knife the suspect discarded while fleeing the scene in the parking lot next to the restaurant.  The suspect was arrested for aggravated robbery, a first degree felony.
