Offense: Death Investigation

A 16 year old male was accidentally shot and killed by his 24 year old brother while they were drawing a 9mm handgun from a holster that the older brother was wearing. The two were in a back apartment behind a home located in the 3800 block of Reynosa Street. The two had gotten together to watch a television show when the older brother who was wearing a holster and weapon began to draw the pistol. The 16 year old victim was struck once in the chest by a single gunshot. The mother of the two men was also at the apartment at the time of the shooting. The victim was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn MCC were he was later pronounced dead. Corpus Christi Police Detectives arrived and are still investigating this case, however at this time no arrests have been made and at this case appears to be an accidental shooting.

Offense: Forgery

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to 4041 S. Staples St., the Sutherlands Store, for a customer who had attempted to pay for merchandise with counterfeit money. Once officers arrived, a store employee said the male and female had just left the store and had got on a city bus. Officers were able to stop the bus and Irma Galvan (01/30/1957) and Marion Eggleston (12/16/1979) were both identified as the two who had attempted to pass three fake twenty dollar bills. When the clerk checked the bills with a marker, both the male and female left the store. The couple was arrested and charged with forgery, a third degree felony, and transported to the city detention center.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to Weber Rd. and South Padre Island Drive for a motor vehicle accident and found the at fault driver was intoxicated. When officers arrived they found a 1994 Ford Ranger truck had flipped over on its top. The crash investigation revealed that the Ford Ranger was traveling south in the 5000 block of Weber Rd and ran a red light striking a 2005 Ford F150 truck that was traveling east on South Padre Island Dr. After an investigation it was determined that the driver, James Patterson (07/11/1954), of the Ford Ranger was intoxicated and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a third degree felony. Neither the 52 year old driver of the Ford F150 or his female passenger was injured in the crash.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery

A 71 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police and said that a stranger knocked on the door of his home located in the 3300 block of Case De Amigos Dr. and when he did not answer, three male suspects kicked open the door. One of the suspects was described as a thin Hispanic male with a black shirt, black and white shorts, and a mask. Another suspect was described as a chubby Hispanic male wearing black pants and a black sweat shirt and he also was wearing a mask. The suspects made the male and female victims get on the ground and stay in the restroom while they ransacked the house. The suspects asked where the money was several times and mentioned the couple’s son by name. The suspects took several guns from the victims, a jewelry box with several thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry inside. The victim’s son arrived shortly after the robbery and said he thought that he might know the name of one of the suspects involved. Corpus Christi police continue to investigate this crime, and at this time no arrests have been made. The victims did not have a description of the third suspect involved.
