Date: 11/07/2014 1:05 AM
Location: 4800 State Highway 358 East
Offense: Driving While Intoxicated
(PC 49.04 Class A Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1411070003
Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash in the eastbound lanes of State Highway 358 and found that a 2004 Pontiac GTO was traveling east on the freeway in the center lane when it was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro from the rear. The force of the impact caused the 24 year old male driver of the Pontiac to lose control of his car, spin around and come to rest facing the opposite direction of travel. He was the only person in the car and was not injured.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Yvette Hernandez (01/18/1973), also was not injured but upon investigation officers determined she was intoxicated. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor. This crash caused all the east lanes of the freeway to be closed for nearly an hour.
While police had the freeway closed and were investigating this crash, a 2002 Buick LaSabre was seen traveling at a high rate of speed toward the officers. The car disregarded the emergency vehicles that were positioned on the freeway to close it down and drove by a patrol unit within a couple of feet. Officers were able to stop the car before it made it to the crash scene, and they contacted the driver, Heather Motal (03/21/1990). After an investigation, she was also found to be intoxicated and she was arrested.
