A 60 year old grandmother called Corpus Christi Police after her grandson assaulted her over an argument about toast. Officers arrived at the home located in the 1400 block of West Point Rd. and were told that the grandmother got mad at her 24 year old grandson because he did not use a knife or spoon to spread butter on his toast.
The argument got more heated and the man pushed his grandmother up against a cabinet. The grandmother then grabbed a knife and told him to get away. The male grabbed a kitchen pan and threatened to hit her before being separated by the grandfather.
The female told officers that the assault had injured her back but she declined medical assistance. Officers arrested Billy Angel Gutierrez (12/13/1989) for assault, a Class A misdemeanor.

Corpus Christi Police ended guard duty at Spohn MMC on a suspect that has been charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.
Daniel Cavanaugh (10/27/1977) was released from the hospital late yesterday evening and booked at the City Detention Center. The suspect had been at the hospital being treated, under guard, since November 9 when he was shot by a Corpus Christi Police officer

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol was driving through the Moore Plaza area when he saw a male running north through the parking lot. At about that same time he was notified that a theft had just occurred at the Academy Store, located at 5001 S. Padre Island Dr.
The suspect who was running saw officers approaching and ran into traffic along the access road and across the freeway. The male crossed both east and west bound lanes of State Highway 358 and ran into the La Palmers Mall parking lot. In the parking lot of the mall, the suspect approached an elderly female driver in a vehicle and opened the door of her car and attempted to pull her out. A male bystander saw what was occurring and he intervened. The bystander pulled the suspect out of the vehicle and held him on the ground until the police arrived.
Officers arrested Mark Olivo (06/17/1989), and at the time he was taken into custody he was wearing a pair of Nike shoes, valued at over $100. He also was holding another Nike shoe and he had a cap in his pants pocket.
All of the items had been stolen from the store. He was charged with evading arrest on foot, a Class A misdemeanor. He was additionally charged with theft, and for fail to identify after he gave officers a false name, both of those offenses are Class B misdemeanors.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol in the 600 block of State Highway 358 observed a gray Mitsubishi Mirage traveling in front of him with a broken right rear taillight.
The officer contacted the driver, Jesus Chavez (02/10/1996), and his 18 year old female passenger. After further investigation the officer was notified that the vehicle had been reported stolen from 5425 S. Padre Island Dr. on October 22.
The male was arrested, for unauthorized use of motor vehicle, a state jail felony. The female in the car was released.

A 32 year old male witness called Corpus Christi Police after he saw two male suspects smash out a window on a Ford F250 truck that was parked in the 900 block of N. Shoreline Blvd.
The witness said he was parked several car lengths behind the truck that was broken into, when he saw a man knock out the right front door window of the truck The witness watched as the man grabbed a back pack and a brown jacket from inside the truck and gave it to another male that was with him. Both suspects walked away from the truck and the witness followed them while calling police.
With assistance from the witness, officers found both suspects Richard McAninch (06/04/1967) and Wesley Lundberg (03/04/1972) a couple of blocks away. Both suspects were arrested for burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor. The stolen property was returned to the victim.
