(PC 49.04       Class B Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1411170066
Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash that resulted in a road closure, damage to an electric pole and an arrest for drunk driving.

A male was driving his 2014 Chevrolet Cruze west along the access road in the 4600 block of S. Padre Island Dr. at a high rate of speed and made an unsafe lane change and struck a 2004 Cadillac sedan. The impact forced the Cadillac, driven by a 37 year old male, to leave the roadway and strike a power pole at the corner of the access road and Lavaca St.

The power pole broke causing it to lean over the road with low hanging wires. The west access road along the freeway was closed from Everhart Rd. to Weber Rd. for about three hours while officers waited for a crew from AEP to repair the pole.

Both drivers were transported to Spohn MMC with minor injuries. After an investigation, the driver of the Chevrolet, Miguel Mungia (11/30/1986), was found to be intoxicated and he was arrested.

A 42 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police after a longtime friend of his dropped off the victim’s sister at their home in the 3400 block of Southland Dr.

The sister and the friend had gotten into a verbal argument and it continued until they arrived at the home.   The friend then turned his anger toward the male victim and started yelling at him.  The two males began to fight, and then the friend was able to get back into his Dodge truck and drive away only to turn around.
