Patrol Report 11/20/2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 194 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight November 19 to 7:00 a.m. on November 20, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Bravo” District

Offense: Burglary

A 19 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police after she caught another female in her car while it was parked at an apartment complex located at 1938 Ennis Joslin Rd.

The victim told officers she and two of her friends went outside of her apartment to smoke a cigarette when she observed a female inside of her 2008 Jeep Liberty.  The victim pulled the female out of her Jeep and noticed she was in possession of three bags, one of which was hers. The suspect was detained on the ground in the parking lot while police were called.

The victim retrieved her bag which contained several electronic items.  The other two bags were recovered by the police and they are currently looking for the owners of that property.

Officers arrested Corinne Browning (06/30/1972) for burglary, a Class A misdemeanor.   The victim told officers she left her vehicle unlocked and that is how she believes the suspect entered her vehicle.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a shooting at a trailer park located at 5902 Ayers St. and found a 21 year old male victim had been shot twice and the male suspect who shot him was being held down by witnesses.

Officers contacted thirteen witnesses who said they had all come over to the victim’s trailer for a party. The victim and the suspect were in a back room of the trailer arguing about the suspect trying to leave the party intoxicated. The suspect exited the room followed close behind by the victim who was still trying to keep the suspect from leaving. When they reached the front door, the witnesses said the suspect turned, pulled out a revolver, and fired two shots at the victim.

The suspect took off running and several witnesses took off after him. They tackled him and held him down. Prior to police arrival and while the suspect was being held down, he suffered minor injuries to his face.

Officers recovered a .357-caliber handgun and at this time the suspect is being treated for his injuries at Spohn Shoreline Hospital. The 25 year old suspect is expected to be booked later today for aggravated assault, a second degree felony. The victim was transported to Spohn MMC by CCFD EMS.

A 31 year old female business owner called Corpus Christi Police after she observed a female in her store, located at 5433 S. Staples St., stealing clothes.

The female suspect was confronted by store employees and did not want to wait until the police arrived so she pushed the owner and the employee in order to get out of the boutique. She got into her vehicle which was parked in front of the store and she attempted to run over both of them as she was driving out of the parking lot.

Officers found the vehicle several blocks away from the boutique and arrested Esther Michelle Champion (06/09/1989). She was a charged with robbery, a first degree felony for using force during the commission of a theft.

Corpus Christi Police responded to an armed robbery at the Dollar General Store located at 4902 Holly Rd.

A 25 year old male store employee told officers he exited the store with the day’s cash with intentions to deposit it at the bank. As the employee was about to enter his truck, which was parked in the store parking lot, a male suspect put a gun to the back of his neck and demanded the money bag. The employee gave the suspect male the bag without turning his head to look at the suspect. The employee was then ordered to lie on the ground and not look up.

The suspect then fled on foot from the parking lot. The employee could not provide information on the suspect’s description.

Officers are still investigating this case, and no arrests have been made.

Location: State Highway 286 North At Interstate 37 Ramp North Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash involving a Texas Department of Transportation truck and another vehicle on State Highway 286 near Interstate 37.

The crash investigation revealed that, Marco Bocanegra (09/02/1973), was driving his 2007 Chevrolet truck north on the freeway at a high rate of speed and cut through the work zone that TXDOT employees had set up on the ramp to Interstate 37 north from the Crosstown freeway. The suspect crashed his truck into the rear of a stationary TXDOT vehicle.

After an investigation, officers determined that the driver of the Chevrolet truck was intoxicated and he was arrested. There were no injuries reported from the crash.
